The Hats that Women Wear

26 May 2018
Melissa Peck

As we close this segment of how significant women are, I want to share a poem my husband wrote:

Who would even dare to put on the hats that women wear? Only a woman created by God with dignity and flair!

The hat of a sister or friend; an ear to some and a companion to others. A shopping mate or a means of escape; a round table of advice and a reflection of their origins where their blood runs deep. This hat is rare in that it last forever; never to abandon, never to forget, never to deny –NEVER!

Who would even dare to put on the hats that women wear? Only a woman of God with dignity and flair!

The hat of the wife means support for life for the man that finds her. Giving children as gifts, giving her heart freely to one. Making all look good just by her presence; a jewel to hold, a fool to lose, admired for her essence. Finding encouragement and nourishment from the well of her soul; she makes a difference, she brings favor from God, hard work and dedication her goal. What would life be without her –it hurts when the thought occurs.

Who would even dare to put on the hats that women wear? Only a woman created by God with dignity and flair!

The hat of a mother is big and her brim covers all. She can fulfill all four categories and still walk tall. Her body is an incubator for life, she brings comfort with her words; her hugs are inviting, her kisses are medicine for scrapes and falls. One person, dual roles for the daughter and the son. Dainty and deliberate, a role model for the daughter, challenging and consistent support for the son; bilateral for both making Kool-Aid and spaghetti-o’s taste like fun. She eats last and puts you first, sleeps less but the first to rise, sacrifice is her middle name; “nobody better not mess with my kids” she proudly proclaims! What a tragedy it is for her not to call your name.

A divine masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made; these hats of distinction are gifts from God only a woman can retain.  Again –who would even dare to put on the hats that women wear? A woman created by God with dignity and flair!

Thank you for sharing -A MOMENT WITH MELISSA!
