while Growing in Grace"
-Matt. 28:19-20, 2 Pet. 3:18
As we prepare to honor mothers on Mother’s Day, I want to take this moment to talk about what I feel is, the Significance of a woman.
We all may be able to say that our mother is a significant woman.
But let’s go back to when we were created. We are all decedents of Eve, who was created from the rib of Adam. Over the years, I’ve heard others refer to Adam’s reaction to us in a couple of ways: one as “WOE-MAN” or two as “Womb-man”. In Old English, we were referred to as “wifman (wife-man)” which became “woman”.
The bible simply says his reaction was “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman’”. In my imagination, I can only assume Adam didn’t really know what a helper would look like. Maybe he thought we would look like him, but being such an Awesome and creative God, He uniquely created us with a womb to be able to bear and nurture children. I realize the female animals had the same capabilities however, they were not made in the image and likeness of God.
As we think about the Significance of a woman, think about your significance to God. How He feels about you, what He thinks about you, and the smile you put on His face just because you are a Woman.
Thank you for sharing…A MOMENT WITH MELISSA!
Good Morning 1st Lady,
How poignant this post is to remind every woman of her own pertinence and importance. Sadly, we live in a cultural context where women have been vilified and relegated to object versus Divinely created being. Your blog reminds persons of the intrinsic value Creator God gave to “woman”. The significance of “woman” lies, not in accoutrement, accomplishment, or accolade, it’s in the existential reality of “Woman”, eternally.
every woman should know the importance of her being. I take pride in knowing God loves me just because I am a woman, etc.
